Every HighTouch made-to-measure jacket is cut to your exact measurements, so a little care here means a jacket that fits like it was born on you. It only takes a few minutes.
What you'll need
- A soft measuring tape (the fabric kind used for sewing). If you only have a metal one, use a piece of string and measure it against a ruler afterwards.
- A friend to help — it's much easier and more accurate than measuring yourself.
- A close-fitting t-shirt. Measure over the shirt, not over thick clothing.
Golden rule: keep the tape snug but not tight, and level all the way around. Don't pull it in. Record everything in inches (or centimetres — just tell us which).
The measurements we need
- Chest — around the fullest part of your chest and shoulder blades, under the armpits. Keep the tape level.
- Shoulder width — across the back, from the tip of one shoulder (where the seam would sit) straight across to the tip of the other.
- Sleeve length — from the shoulder tip, down the outside of the arm to your wrist bone, with your arm slightly bent.
- Jacket length — from the base of your neck (top of the spine) straight down to where you'd like the jacket to end.
- Waist — around your natural waistline, roughly level with your belly button.
- Bicep — around the fullest part of your upper arm, relaxed.
- Neck — around the base of your neck, where a collar sits.
It also helps to send us your height and weight, and to tell us your preferred fit — slim, regular, or relaxed.
A few tips for accuracy
- Stand relaxed and natural — don't puff out your chest or hold your breath.
- Measure twice. If two readings differ, measure a third time and use the middle value.
- When in doubt, send us a well-fitting jacket you already own and we can match it.
A note on fit
As every jacket is handmade, a small margin of variation is normal and to be expected. Following these instructions carefully ensures the best possible fit. If there's ever a significant discrepancy between the measurements you provided and the jacket you receive, we'll put it right.
